Literacy Center

The Literacy or "Lit" Center supports student learning at Niles West through peer-to-peer and professional tutoring.

Individual and small group collaboration promotes confidence and empowerment so students can reach their academic goals.

Our Services

Both peer and faculty tutors provide support on homework, essay writing, exam preparation and more. 

Tutors are prepared to help students in any subject taught at Niles West, including electives. 

Core focus areas include:

  • Math
  • English
  • Science
  • Social Studies

Our Hours & Location

Students are welcome to drop in for help before or after school, or during their free periods (lunch and/or study hall). 
 
Location: Room 1161
 

Monday-Thursday: 7:20am to 4:30pm  

Friday: 7:20am to 3:23pm

*The Lit Center is closed during homeroom.
No Early Bird period on late start days.

Appointments are not required, but recommended for students who would like to meet with a tutor at a specific time.

Interested in becoming a peer tutor?

Peer tutors at Niles West receive academic credit for their work which appears on their transcripts.

Students who are interested in becoming a Lit Center peer tutor, may complete an application.
