Student Activities Resources

Students should enter service hours in SchooLinks:

1. Go to Engage > Experience Tracking

2. Click on "Community Service Hours" and then "Add Entry"

3. Provide the date and location of the experience, and include a description of the type of work completed. Students should also upload evidence of completion. 
   *Evidence can include a photo or video of themselves at the location, a certificate or email communication between the student and the supervisor, or any other form of verification that confirms the student's participation. 

4. Enter the supervisor's name and email. The supervisor must be someone who directly supervised the student's service at the organization. This can include a club sponsor or a point of contact from the outside organization.

• Volunteering for non-profit organizations (e.g., food banks, shelters)
• Participating in school-sponsored community service projects (e.g., clean-up events, tutoring)
• Assisting at school, religious or community events without pay (e.g., helping at charity fundraisers, new student orientation, etc)
• Serving at hospitals, nursing homes, or community centers
• Volunteering for civic events or campaigns that benefit the community (e.g., voter registration drives)

The following do not qualify as service hours:

• Paid work or internships
• Completing tasks for family members or friends (e.g., babysitting, yard work)
• Participating in activities that benefit for-profit businesses
• Attending club meetings or practices without performing service-related tasks
• Time spent fundraising for personal causes or for school-related clubs/teams 
• Helping staff members within regular school hours, during the school day
